Carving A Bear Statue Out Of A Stump

When I was a child there was a man in Carrollton, Texas, who sold wood carvings similar to this (except on a smaller scale). He was based in a parking lot of a shopping center and would take large stumps of wood and carve various animals out of the wood with a chainsaw. I only remember the Eagle he carved for us on a stop there. He would take the uncarved wood and cut it in front of you, just using a chainsaw. It was very creative and was basically a live performance art piece that you got to take home with you. This bear carving reminded me of this interesting form of art: creating sculptures out of wood.
